How Do You Think it Feels?
How do you think it feels to be all alone, just struggling to get by all on your own? How do you think it feels to be without a clue, just bumming around with nothing else to do? ALL THE TIMES WE SAILED TO SEA AND ALL THE SHIPS WE SUNK DOESN'T MATTER MUCH TO ME NO WE'RE OUT OF LUCK, OH NO. That guy is six foot four that creep I'm talking about, that type of character we can do without. Well did you say my name? I carved it in your back. Don't look at me that way. I'm never coming back. ALL THE TIMES WE SAILED TO SEA AND ALL THE SHIPS WE SUNK DOESN'T MATTER MUCH TO ME NO WE'RE OUT OF LUCK, OH NO. how do you think it feels? How do you think it feels? ALL THE TIMES WE SAILED TO SEA AND ALL THE SHIPS WE SUNK DOESN'T MATTER MUCH TO ME NO WE'RE OUT OF LUCK. YEAH ALL THE TIMES WE SAILED TO SEA AND ALL THE TEARS WE'VE DRUNK DOESN'T MATTER MUCH TO ME NOW I SEE WE'RE SUNK...and nothing ever changes....

Big Red Balloon
Come fly with me in my big red balloon, let's go adventure today. All of your friends they will be here soon. Come on let's so them the way. Come fly with me in my big red balloon there's nothing really to it at all. Your mother, your brother, your sister and dog we won't leave them there on the lawn.
Come fly with me in my big red balloon we'll sail over the castle walls. The dragons their fire the echoes of war will never harm you at all. Come fly with me in my big red balloon, those aren't bandages they are works of art. As you grow and move out on your own, you'll always be in my heart.
Come fly with me in my big red balloon it's late and it's time to come home. It's getting dark and your friends have all gone, but I'll never leave you alone. I swear I'll never leave you alone.

I'm the Man
I'm the man your mom warned you about. I'm not bad just know things won't work out and I'll leave you in a second when things start to go south. Yeah, I'll be so brutally honest you'll punch me in the mouth. Nobody understands me. Nobody understands me but me.
She's the one your mom warned you about. She's not dumb she has time to work out because she sits doing nothing as you slave away. And you know that she'll be gone once the money's gone away. Nobody understands her, nobody understands her but her.
See the leaves fall from the trees. Breathe in that crisp autumn breeze. All those times that she brought you to your knees will be forgotten come the winter freeze.
She's not the one. She just is what she is. She's so vain; don't know why I'm telling you all of this.
You're the one, my mom told me about. You're the one I can't live without. I'm not dumb; you know that I need you. I'm not dumb; you know that I love you.
Nobody understands me, nobody understands me but you. Nobody understands me. Nobody understands me like you do...I'm the man I hope you're waiting for.

Rum Drunk
So you went to the local papers did you get some news for me? Goodness gracious baby where are my manners would you like to sit for tea? Come around in a couple of days I know that you're feeling fine. After spending some time with me you'll be happy to be alive.
Slightly older but you're still attractive and you look great in those pants. Come on honey darling why are you waiting this could be your last chance? Having to deal with all of this would push one to the brink. Come the days this war is over we'll have to go get a drink.
YOU CAN'T STOP WHAT IS COMING YOUR WAY. BEST THING TO DO IS JUST LIVE FOR TODAY. AND ALL THE OTHER CLICHES THEY CRAM IN YOUR HEAD ADD UP TO NOTHING WHEN YOU JUST SEE RED.
Take you down to the police station; introduce you to the local PD. Your causes and your politics they don't mean shit to me. No, this is not a nightmare. No, this is not a lie. No, the system's not broke it's been pulverized. You know as bad as things get they can always be worse. What was once a blessing can become a curse. So hold on to your hope and hold on to your dreams. Then shove them in your ears so you won't hear the screams.
YOU CAN'T STOP WHAT IS COMING YOUR WAY. BEST THING TO DO IS JUST LIVE FOR TODAY. AND ALL THE OTHER CLICHES THEY CRAM IN YOUR HEAD ADD UP TO NOTHING WHEN YOU JUST SEE RED.
Never Really Here
Hey, what did you say? It doesn't really matter. You look so cold your coat is all tattered. I knew you couldn't make it alone in this world. Did you take those drugs they left out on the counter?
Please, just leave me be just leave me alone. Don't come round the house don't call me on the phone. You're a little suicidal waif wrapped in a Pinkerton coat. Take that Xacto knife and cut yourself to the bone.
I didn't disappear. I was never really here. Had nothing to fear, I was never really here.
Now I don't like seeing your desperate side. I guess you ran out of places to run and hide. Those things that shouldn't happen happened.
I didn't disappear. I was never really here. Had nothing to fear, I was never really here. Now I still care dear. Whisper those words in your ear. All love disappears, I was never really here.
Hey, what did you say? It never really mattered. You look so old, you heart has been shattered.

We Are Us
Where I grew up it was a dirty old town broken bottles on the ground the air scarred your lungs. The people there didn't like differences and the settled them with knives not with guns.
SING A NEW SONG "WE ARE US" SING A SONG THEY CAN'T IGNORE. WE HAVE SOME FOLKS HERE WHO WANT TO BUY US BUT WE'RE MORE THAN THEY CAN AFFORD.
The corners are filled with high school kids whose parents live in the thousand bars. The cops they chase drunks on four wheeled bikes and the motor head kids drag racing cars.
SING A NEW SONG "WE ARE US" SING A SONG THEY CAN'T IGNORE. WE HAVE SOME FOLKS HERE WHO WANT TO BUY US BUT WE'RE MORE THAN THEY CAN AFFORD.

Red Wine Stains
Said I'm the worst because I hit wear it hurt because I knew you so well. It was just a defense I never meant no offense but that was a living hell. And you cursed God with a cocky nod and then you spilled your red wine on bedroom floor you know I don't live there anymore but that was a damn good time.
AND OH THINGS CHANGE SO FAST AND NOTHING STAYS THE SAME. ALL THE THINGS FROM THE PAST WILL DRIVE A MAN INSANE.
No I don't care about you but I think about you every now and again. I would love to hate you but I can't separate you from way back when. I'm floating in the yard I see you've crashed your father's car in Olde City. Cloud burst when we were on fourth why'd you ever come up North this is not pretty.
AND OH THINGS CHANGE SO FAST AND NOTHING STAYS THE SAME. ALL THE THINGS FROM THE PAST WILL DRIVE A MAN INSANE.
My, my, my. my little Dragon Fly what are you doing here? You know I clipped your wings and burned up all of your pretty things and yet you're in my ear.

It's Alright
Woke up this morning at about six AM like I do every day and you don't give a damn because you sleep ‘til noon and you'll be gone soon. Looking in the papers for out of state work and you know how that hurts me, Lord, I feel like a jerk and you know I'm right. I miss you tonight. All of those things that you do in the night it's alright. Yeah all of those things that you say in the night it's alright.
Well, I don't drink of Sundays it's the day of the Lord but I get wrecked every other night to be sure. I fear its true, I feel we're through. Just looking for something to help numb the pain but no matter what I try it just drives me insane. And you know I'm right. I miss you tonight. All of those things that you do in the night it's alright. Yeah all of those things that you say in the night it's alright.
There ain't sugar cane in the hills that's for sure and you prattle on so incessantly that I find you a bore but I don't care as long as you're still there. There are fields to be worked and there are fences to mend, and I laugh out loud when you said we'd be friends.
When the Summer is Gone
Put the kids in the car. Take the phone from the wall. Wherever you're standing there you are and I want you. Let down your long brown hair. There's a chill in the air. I'm always happier when you're there and I need you.
WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE. IT DON'T LAST VERY LONG. WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE, WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE.
Dry your eyes my little one. You'll have your day in the sun. Yeah, your time has just begun and we love you. What was once here is gone, what was once right is wrong. You've been hiding out too long but I see you.
WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE. IT DON'T LAST VERY LONG. WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE, WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE.
All those times when we were so happy and nothing ever could go bad, all those things I've longed to tell you you're the greatest friend I ever had.
WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE. IT DON'T LAST VERY LONG. WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE, WHEN THE SUMMER IS GONE. NOW MY SUMMER IS GONE.

Manayunk
Two tickets if you want to go to the Pink Floyd laser light show. It's Dark Side of the Moon. Then maybe get a drink or two. We can go to my local joint, maybe drive out to the Pointe. You're right we'll skip the hardcore club. Let's just go to the Dawson Street Pub.
Your apartment's on the third floor. Beam of light comes through the door. Shines on your poster of Ani DiFranco. Do you really have to go? In the cool glow of your TV screen: All in the Family. It's about two months or so. You don't really have to go.
I have two tickets if you want to go to the Pink Floyd laser light show.

What the World Expects of Me
I don't talk much about them these things in my head. I could do without all those things that you said.
Just look at me now dear oh look in my eyes. I'm just fine without you oh what a surprise.
Every now and then I call on my friends. But they don't answer me when their door bells ring
Now it's plain to see what the world expects of me. But I don't owe them a Goddamned thing.
I'm making love to Chicago but I'm screwing Illinois. Spilt some beer on Pittsburgh, then I ravaged Des Moines. I said goodbye to Moscow, then I punched it in the back. I get this funny feeling you ain't ever coming back. My sweet girl from Memphis your were such a pill. I knew all the dangers but I swallowed you still. Now you're up on the Hudson with your gun in your hand. Who did you shoot down? Yeah who's your new man?
Every now and then I call on my friends. But they don't answer me when their door bells ring
Now it's plain to see what the world expects of me. But I don't owe them a Goddamned thing.
They'll be a time and a place when we will meet again. Better hope I'm in a good mood when I see you my friend. I heard something about you: you're lost, you're alone. You'll always be my special someone with your heart of stone.
all lyrics by Joe Boylan.
